Bananabrains is a new company built on lots of experience

Dan has been developing computer software since 1985 when a broken leg meant many hours spent learning BBC BASIC and then 6502 Assembler.

Since graduating from the University of Bath with a 1st class honours degree in Maths and Computing in 1997, Dan has been programming professionally in C++, ASP, HTML, CSS (since before it was even called CSS), Java, JavaScript, VB.NET, C#.NET and PHP. More recently, he has taken up Angular front end programming as he believes that progressive webapps have a big part to play in the future.

He wrote the Purchase Order Control product provided by Advantage Services, and has written several content management systems and other websites from scratch.

For the professional view of our founder Dan you can see that here on his LinkedIn profile.

Here are a few other things you may (or may not) find interesting...

  • Dan can speak German having spent his placement year there in 1995/6.
  • He represented his school at Alexandra Stadium in the 4x100m relay (yes, this is hard to believe if you have seen him lumber around the football pitch nowadays).
  • Apart from football, he enjoys running, swimming, cycling and walking, completing the 40-mile Keswick-to-Barrow walk three times (yes, it is a silly idea, but a great event).
  • In 1996, far from home in Berlin and relatively out of touch in the early days of the Internet, he started the "Bluenose mailing list", an email list for Birmingham City supporters. The mailing list later spawned its own team, the Netbaloos, playing against other similar Internet supporters' teams. We weren't bad at all.
